Glacier, Yellowstone and Sturgis
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! We awake in our tent on Saturday morning August 3rd to 40 degrees in Glacier National Park. I was warned about this on the web site. We shiver down to the restaurant we'd eaten supper at the night before to find warmth and coffee. Two Dog Flats Mesquite Grill serves breakfast also. Pic#01 is the group who catered to us the night before. I did not jot down their names but I do remember where they're from. Left to right is Pennsylvania, BIG Texas and (get this) Greenville, South Carolina. This lil' Southern Belle is attending the College of Charleston, SC. They're college students working here for the summer. That's neat. Our Southern Belle said she'd always wanted to see Montana. I can relate to that!
After breakfast we broke camp, leathered-up, and set out to see the western side of Glacier. It's overcast and foggy until we pass the Pinnacle about halfway through Pics#02-04. There's ice on the trees up here (Double Brrrrrrrrr!) Then the clouds and fog break and, WOW, words cannot describe the pure beauty of this place. And the pictures only help a little. All I know Muthuh is you must come see this place for yourself Pics#05-10.
Saturday afternoon we reluctantly leave "God's Country" and head south. We stop for a quick oil change and T-shirts at Montana Harley-Davidson Shop in Kalispell, MT. They were booked solid because of the "Rally". However, they had a neat place set up out back for do-it-yourselfers with tools and all. Thanks Guys!
Next we haul ass south toward Missoula, MT to catch I-90 east. As we round a curve on hwy 93 @ 85mph we see a black bear haul'n ass up a hill to our right. Guess the Vance & Hines scared hell out of it. I can't believe Lori didn't get a pic. I'm thirsty so we stop at a bar in Polson, MT on the southern edge of Flathead Lake Pic#16. Lori even indulged with a couple of drinks too.
We hit the road again with hopes of reaching Butte by 21:00. Even though we're out of Glacier, Montana is still beautiful. Severe skies ahead stop us about 20 miles west of Butte in Rocker, MT. I set my Palm Handheld to alarm at 06:00 so we can haul ass again to spend Sunday in Jellystone-err-oops I mean Yellowstone National Park (watched too much Yogi growing up hehehe). Goodnight for now.

Been to Glacier NP a couple times...my wife and I, in our younger days, worked two years inside Yellowstone National Park, and often drove around the surrounding countryside - in a car through. We had a friend who was on the Glacier Bear Study Program up there and visited once each year.
I'm looking forward to hear what you gotta say about Yellowstone and the Tetons...some folks on bikes don't care for it much, but knowing the area as well as I do, I found my first scooter ride through there (ARCHIVES 2000) on my Sturgis Trip to be an excellent homecoming. We knew what to avoid and what to look for...it is such a big place you can waste days at bullshit spots... although there are few bullshit spots in Yellowstone.... looking forward to the rest.
